Yesterday morning, during our heat wave, I noticed that all the watermelons are missing. That freakin' critter is really messing with our garden!!I woke up this morning to some serious rain. Outside of having to walk a dog, it was a great gift. The rain was supposed to continue until this evening ... but, it was a great afternoon, weather-wise. The kids spent a lot of time in the backyard and were very mad at the critter that was messing with our veggies. They were especially mad about the watermelon. They negotiated among each other about how to decorate the new box. They decided that they are going to "save" the new box to decorate until next year ... and hit the back panel of our original box in the mean time. So, they had some fun with the markers. I got a poem, even! (I'll take a picture!)
"Troy" ... my dragon slayer, decided that he was going to take care of our garden monster. I pulled out the red pepper flakes and all the kids sprinkled the magic dust over the new box ... which worked on our first. The kids ended up spreading out to play ... but, Troy stayed behind to take care of matters. He ended up using ALL of the pepper flakes (OH MY HEAD!!!!) - most of the container! After seeing his security set-up, I am confident that no more veggies will go missing. I feel bad for that little critter. (My Critter-slayer needed a bit of help today when he licked his hand and needed relief from the burning. I gave him a piece of bread and washed his hands!!)
