I printed out the plans along with some pictures and took off for Home Depot. I've got to say, printing the pictures was very helpful in letting the Home Depot guy know exactly what I was talking about. Gary, who hung out with me for several hours picking and cutting wood, was awesome. I showed him the plans and then we changed them. After several hours of cutting down the wood, I said goodbye to my new friend and went to check out. I rented their hourly truck and took my supplies home.
I have to say that driving a big honkin' truck really made me feel Large and In Charge! I waved at my friend/neighbor who did a double take when she saw me pull up. PRICELESS. And, backing up with the industrial beeping really made an impact. I unloaded the supplies in a neat pile in front of my house and took the truck back. When I got back, two of the kids were out and about, wondering what the heck I was going to do with the wood. I got their attention!
I explained that I was building a garden. "Cool," they said. They then began to help me move the small pieces of lumber to the back yard.
