My little friends have been at the beach and came home this evening. I'm finding it's not so fun to post a bunch of garden pictures without seeing cute faces. So, I was happy to see them again. (They had a great time.) Daris thought it would be a good idea to try and chip ice from a plastic bottle with a knife. He stabbed himself, needing a stitch ... and is now sporting an injury hidden by a band-aid and needing his sister's help to carry his harvest! (He's going to be fine and learned a good lesson!)We harvested the two cucumbers (which I've been wanting to pluck for DAYS!), some cherry tomatoes, and a sweet pepper. Very exciting. The kids are excited for their mom to make an Iranian cucumber dish with yogurt. I hope they are tasty. :-) They couldn't be any fresher!
Our sunflowers have lived their lifespan. I should ask the kids to dry the heads and save the seeds. (The kids are in charge of the garden for the week ... I'm going to the beach again.) I tried to leave today for my holiday ... but, got stuck in local traffic. I turned around after 3 hours because I didn't even get close to driving out of the area. Not even close! I'm traveling with my soon to be 15 year old pooch. When we got home, we were both feeling stiff. Things all work out ... and I'm really glad to get a post off before I'm gone ... and I was very happy to catch up with my little friends. :-)
So, the kids are going to take some pictures of the garden while I'm gone and I'll post next weekend. This trip I won't have internet at the house and I know that the kids' dad really took a lot of time to send pictures to me on my last visit to the beach. So, I don't really want to bug him this go around. (The kids' uncle is in town from Germany and I just found out that their grandfather is back in the hospital.
